Our pastor has encouraged us to "give up" something during lent, in order to pay attention to God's immediate presence in our life. This year my plan is to intentionally give up some long-held routines, in order to free up time to focus on deepening relationships with others. So, starting tomorrow, I plan to follow this guide:
EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS DAY BY DAY - A 40 DAY JOURNEY

"There is a way to live a relaxed, unhurried, contented life in Jesus amid the pressures and difficulties of life. There is a way to remain thoughtful when triggered in conversations, and to listen for God’s voice in those experiences. There is a way to surrender to God’s love and will when we are tempted to be judgmental—even when it is difficult. There is a way to give our lives in service to others without becoming exhausted.
How are all these things possible? The answer lies in intentionally rearranging our days to routinely integrate the Christian practice of being still and silent in God’s presence. The purpose of the Daily Office is to pay attention to God throughout the entire day—in the midst of our activities.
The goal is to love others so distinctly that they know Jesus is truly alive and present in their midst. Each Office contains five elements: Silence and Stillness, Scripture, Devotional, Question to Consider, and Prayer.I'm looking forward to some daily interruptions, starting tomorrow.
