When this bird landed nearby and waited for me to take a picture, I thought it was a "loon". I've seen loons at the lake before, but not this colorful.

MEMORY FROM OCTOBER 15, 2014

Stormy day at Pinchot State Park.....

I was looking all over the lake for my friend "BLUE" but he was no where to be found. So I took the picture (above) and superimposed blue over the lake. Since blue heron's fly south for the winter, I guess he headed to Florida. 

Scenery at the lake is incredible right now and worth a visit. It was raining, which really saturated the color.

A GOOD DAY AT PINCHOT LAKE

A few summers ago, a Blue Heron landed next  
to my boat and gave me a quick fishing lesson.

The Heron stared at his prize fish and started 
humming "I Only Have Eyes For You"

My friend and I left feeling like we had
a good day at Pinchot lake.

The Blue Heron was hiding under a bridge on a trail at Pinchot. He refused to move away from the dense brush. This was as close as I could get.

TIME FOR MY YEARLY BLUE CHECK

April 2015 - Was just about ready to give up my search this morning when a guy and his wife in kayaks told me they saw the blue heron. I pointed the boat back out onto the foggy lake and took more pictures of cool rock formations, but no blue.

The local goose family suggested I check down closer to the dam area, where blue has been seen previous years. 

Nearby the dam I asked a guy in a kayak, and he said I was getting closer, but I should check on the other side of the lake. 

I crossed to the other side, and......

Blue is back! He fanned his feathers as he has done the last 3 years. 

And then he did the familiar, "catch me if you can" move ....

Good day on the lake. Thank you God, for Your creation, for this day.

During the last few years I have gotten to know my buddy at the lake pretty well.

MY "FAMOUS" LAKE FRIENDS ARE CAUSING PROBLEMS AGAIN

Just got notice that Pennsylvania State Parks put the Egret and Blue Heron on their front cover. The picture (above) was posted on my blog last Friday. I've been chasing these birds for the last couple of years, mostly at Pinchot Park.

BLUE IS NOW A STAR

Last Wednesday I was hoping to see my blue heron friend at the lake but he was no where to be found.   

UP UP AND AWAY

Haven't seen my buddy at the lake for a while, until today.  As he flew away, I noticed that the tree leaves are quickly changing, so blue won't be around much longer.  (click on pictures to enlarge and then escape to return)
