THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

Imagine a movie that includes every day for the rest of your life…

I listened to a TED Talk last night about a guy who has been recording one second every day, so he''ll never forget another day ever again. He says, "this project has had such a profoundly positive impact on my life, that I've developed an app that will make it extraordinarily easy for anyone to do this too. Reliving every single day of my life at age 30 in 6 minutes has provided me with a treasured perspective on life. It holds me accountable for making each day count."
"When I turn 40, I'll have a 1 hour compilation that encapsulates my 30s. If I live to see 80 years of age, I'll have a 5-hour video that summarizes 50 years of my life."
I downloaded his app onto my phone, which records one second and sorts each video by date. It also reminds you each day to record and remember the rest of your life.

WORDS AND PICTURES

Watched this movie about an Art and English professor, who form a rivalry that ends up with a competition at their school, in which students decide whether words or pictures are more important. The movie was filled with emotional art, and some of the word pictures were powerful. Like this.

"The brain's fundamental secret will be laid open one day. But even when it has, the wonder will remain "that mere wet stuff "can make this bright inward cinema of thought, of sight and sound and touch. 'How does matter becomes conscious?"

UNBROKEN

Watched the first part of the movie UNBROKEN today. Two of the comments during the running segment caught my attention.
  1. "A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory"
  2. "If you can take it, you can make it"

HAIRS BREADTH

Watched this movie yesterday (based on a true story about 20 years ago). A young officer stages a mutiny on a US nuclear missile sub to prevent his commander from launching missiles, before confirming orders to do so.

START FRESH EVERY DAY

Dialogue from a movie I watched yesterday.

"I don't have the answers, Charley. But I know that people get confused in this life about what they want, and what they've done, and what they think they should have because of it. Everything they think they are or did, takes hold so hard that it won't let them see what they can be."

Reminded me of this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. Begin it well and serenely with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

BUCKET LIST

During our guy meeting this morning we shared some of the things on our bucket list.  It is great to be able to share personal stuff like this in a "safe" place every week.
