HELP ME TO SEE THE GOOD IN OTHERS

Took this picture at Cousler Park in York, PA

During my track trek I was reflecting on last Sunday's sermon.

"In the pursuit of Christian maturity, the Christian must put behind them the baby babble of uncontrolled speech and be self-controlled in blessing God and others with their words.

We really do bless or curse the area around us by the power of our words. Thanks for the reminder Pastor Josh! And speaking of words, I found this note in my wife's Bible today.
*************
"Lord, you know I am growing older and will someday be old. Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion. Release me from craving to straighten out everyone's affairs.

Make me thoughtful but not moody.... Helpful, but not bossy with my vast store of wisdom.... It seems a pity not to use all of it, but you know Lord, I'd like a few friends at the end. Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details and give me wings to get to the point swiftly.

Seal my lips on my aches and pains. They are increasing, and love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by. I dare not ask for improved memory, but for a growing humility and a lessening sureness when my memory seems to clash with others. Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be mistaken.

Keep me reasonably sweet. I do not want to be a sour old person - some of them are hard to live with. Help me to see the good in others and give me the grace of the Lord to tell them so."
