VISITING A HAPPY BLUEBIRD

Gifford Pinchot State Park

Bluebirds are widely recognized as a symbol of happiness and cheer. So it seemed appropriate to see this guy hanging out at the lake on this beautiful day.

Scientists tell us a lake environment provides "rest" for our brain. The brain is always trying to record and interpret the meaning of things and events, and a lake provides a high degree of predictability. Unlike a busy street, a body of water is largely the same from moment to moment, which allows part of the brain to relax. So instead of worrying, we can just chill and hang out with a happy bluebird.

By the way, he's usually sitting on the "Overnight Mooring by Permit" sign at boat launch #3.
