BASKING IN THE SUN

Pinchot State Park - September 2016

Painted turtles are among the most common and recognizable turtles that inhabit Pennsylvania's waterways and wetlands. They are appropriately named because of the combination of yellow, red, green, black and tan that appears on their shells, head and limbs. Most people who spend time along Gifford Pinchot Park have seen painted turtles basking on logs or rocks.
