THIN PLACES *

Our front yard tree this morning

The gap between the natural and supernatural got really thin today while I was listening to a podcast on the track. When I returned, I gathered information for this post and I was stunned.

So the podcast was produced a couple of weeks ago by Drew Marshall, and for about 40 minutes he interviewed Priscilla Halfyard and her dad (with whom she'd been estranged). It was difficult to learn about her journey.

On March 22, Priscilla was driving her 6 year old brother to his hockey game. Tragically, they never made it to the game. They were in a head-on collision and her little brother Spencer was killed. Priscilla survived the accident, but broke her arm and crushed her foot.

Approximately six weeks later, Priscilla was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, one of the rarest forms of soft tissue cancer that fiercely targets adolescents and young adults. Although this cancer is aggressive, what was more aggressive was Priscilla's faith in God and her determination to complete her bucket list, which included marrying her fiance who was by her side through all of this.

The difficult events brought Priscilla and her father back together and toward the end of the podcast interview, you got the feeling that God had allowed enough trouble in this 21 year old's life, and better times were ahead.

But when I got back from the track, I read this notification that was just posted by Drew Marshall: "Priscilla's dad Stephen just called me to let me know that Priscilla just died. But not before getting married from her hospice bed!"

If you can find 40 minutes to listen to Priscilla's interview, you won't be disappointed. I almost turned it off a couple of times, but if you listen to the end, you may reach a very thin place between you and God. Click HERE, then scroll down to May 2 special guests "journey".

* Thin places - where one feels especially connected to God, where the veil between the natural and the supernatural is especially "thin"
