During a breakfast meeting some time ago, my friend Stevie Wonder shared something I've never heard before about the Gettysburg battlefield.
"Every year, just in time for the anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg, thousands of vultures arrive, just as they came over one hundred years ago to feast on the horse carcasses. Today, the vultures serve as a ghostly reminder of the land's history."Could it be that the birds returning there are doing so because of inherited roosting or migratory habits? During a visit to the battlefields a while back with my friend Jeff, we asked one of the locals "what's with the vultures?" But the guy on the horse just looked at us and rode off. (see picture below). However, I did find this informative that seems to confirm the "vulture" occurrence.
