The low in Dover, PA last night was -9 degrees. CNN reported this morning that "There's cold, and there's the kind of cold that freezes your soul." They report that 115 million Americans are starting to say in unision "It's too cold!
But some people can only dream of -9 degrees. Like the 800 people living in the town of Oymyakon, Russia. During winter there, the temp averages -50 degrees Fahrenheit. And on a really cold day the temperature can reach, not -9 degrees, but -90 degrees Fahrenheit!
Next time we complain that it's been too cold, too long in Central PA, consider this. There is no record of temperatures EVER rising above zero degrees between December and March in Oymyakon. It must be sweet during the summer there, since during August temperatures can reach a sweltering 60 degrees.
