Maybe this posting resonated with me because I am currently re-reading Brennan Manning's book Abba's Child. Brennan writes about how we sometimes create an "Imposter" - a false self whom we live through, in our attempt to be accepted by people.
But this is not how we are called to live - instead we are called to be real and not allow our identity to be found in the accusations or the accolades by others.
Brennan started the book Abba's Child with this quote:
"To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you everybody else, means to fight the hardest battle, which any human being can fight, and never stop fighting" E. E. Cummings:
