But the room is filled with much more than books. |
As I was spending time in this room today I found some nice surprises. In one book I found notes from our kids. One note was from our 5 year old.
OUR SON TIMMY WAS ALWAYS TRYING TO CUT A DEAL. |
And now he is buying his own kids prizes
And one note was from our 6 year old.
OUR DAUGHTER TAMMY GREW UP TO BE A TEECHEAR |
And now she is teaching her own kids how to spell.
Some of my books are nothing but notes. This diary contains the original notes of a guy who took a steam boat from York, PA to Savannah, Georgia.
FOUND THIS IN A BOX LOT AT A PUBLIC AUCTION |
IT WAS WRITTEN IN QUILL PEN IN THE EARLY 1900's |
Other books are mystical; this one feels like you are holding history in your hands.
This book was a gift from a good friend. |
And other books have been passed down to or used by our grand kids.
OUR GRANDSON DID A SCHOOL PROJECT ON THIS BOOK |
Being able to highlight, underline, and write notes in the margins has made it easy to find information, even years after a book was read. This week I watched "The Bucket List" movie, and they made reference to Kopi Luwak Coffee. I recalled reading about this coffee in a book called "Soul Salsa". Since I had a note in the margin I was able to find this page immediately. (click on picture to enlarge)
And the last surprise in my room today was a post card in a book. Our mom sent us the card from Holland when she was on her way to tour Corrie ten Booms' house.
Love love love the blog.....keep writing and I'll keep reading and enjoying it
ReplyDeleteThanks Lin.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that you have pictured Tuesdays with Morrie. You came to mind when I read it the first time in high school. Now, I read your blog for those life lessons. The greatest and deepest will always be, "It is smart to serve God and sin is stupid"
ReplyDeleteThanks much Ash. My daughter tells me (often) what an awesome job you're doing with Little Lambs. You are special.
