The older I get the more I appreciate memory...
There seems to be such a huge difference in a 60+ year old memory and a 20 something's memory. When I think about something that happened 10 years ago it seems like yesterday, but when a 20 year old thinks about 10 years ago it seems like a lifetime. My mom is pushing 93 and can remember early events in her life in vivid detail, even though she sometimes struggles with her recent memory.
For some reason this memory thing has got my attention lately, so predictably, I checked out TED Talks. Wow. Click HERE to see the variety of talks about memory. With so many people experiencing memory loss, I thank God each day for what I can remember. Actually, one of the reasons I started this blog was to document our family activities so they wouldn't be forgotten. Turns out the blog became an enjoyable habit; usually my first daily activity.
Speaking of memory, I recall how special it was when each of our three kids were born. Rachel Held Evans' blog today describes another newborn, who in the beginning of her life is really struggling. Click HERE for view Rachel's post.
